Camden Council to provide more support to unpaid carers
Unpaid carers in Camden will be recognised, celebrated, and better supported – as the Council launches its new Carers Action Plan.
At tonight’s Full Council meeting (22 July), unpaid carers in Camden shared their lived experiences as part of a debate with councillors and local carer support organisations.
This was met with the launch of Camden’s Carers Action Plan – a commitment to recognising the dedication and contributions of unpaid carers in the borough, and improving support for them.
The plan has been developed alongside carers, local carer services, and health and social care partners. It highlights key priorities and actions for services to work together to enable change for all types of unpaid carers in the borough and provide them with the support they need.
We know the challenges that unpaid carers face, giving up their time and taking on additional responsibilities to support a family member, friend, or someone who they know would struggle without extra help.
Many people in the borough may not recognise that they are an unpaid carer, or may be missing out on much-needed support for their caring role. The Carers Action Plan is our commitment to recognising these dedicated individuals and their vital contributions to caring for others.
We will continue to listen to their experiences and work with our health and social care partners to connect with more carers and ensure they are getting the support they need.
