The latest news and updates from the Chalcots Estate – 21 December 2017

Emergency contact details over Christmas

Both Camden Council and contractors will operate an essential service during the Christmas period. This service is to deal with any urgent site issues should they arise.

Contact Camden provides an emergency telephone service during the weekend, bank holidays and overnight. You can report urgent issues by calling 020 7974 4444.

Rydon will operate emergency repairs as normal. Please call 020 7288 8322.

The fire marshal presence in Taplow will remain the same until the cladding has been removed. In all other blocks, to ensure your safety, fire marshals will retain a 24-hour roving presence, checking the communal areas and the scaffolding around the base of your block. The scaffolds have also been alarmed with a 24-hour call out assigned. This is to prevent anyone gaining unauthorized access.

General enquiries

From Wednesday 27 December to Friday 29 December, Camden Council will be open. Contact Camden will also available for general enquiries. You can get in touch with Contact Camden by calling 020 7974 4444 (option 7). You can also access services and report problems 24/7 using your Camden Account.

Camden’s Contracts Manager, Mike Bennett, will be available on the Chalcots between Wednesday 27 December and Friday 29 December. He can deal with any issues relating to the contractor presence on site. You can get in touch by calling 07813 143023 during normal working hours.

However, we have been unable to get in touch with a small number of identified priority permit holders. If you have had correspondence from our Estate Parking team and have not spoken directly with us, please do so immediately by calling 020 7974 8521.

In the New Year

Following the final cladding replacement decision on Wednesday 24 January, we will be immediately submitting a planning application for Planning Committee approval in March. We will start the procurement process in February, running in parallel to the planning application so that cladding replacement works can start as soon as possible in 2018. The length of time taken to replace the cladding will be subject to a smooth planning and procurement process, as well as the delivery of cladding materials and safe working conditions. We will be able to provide a more accurate schedule of works once Cabinet members have chosen the replacement cladding system.
