The Great Get Together Weekend is coming to Camden

Camden Council is encouraging residents to come along and get involved at one of the exciting community events being held as part of The Great Get Together Weekend.

The Great Get Together is inspired by MP Jo Cox, who was killed on 16 June last year. Following this terrible event there was a groundswell of people who wanted to bring our communities together and celebrate all that unites us.

“Camden is a borough that celebrates diversity and change, and we pride ourselves on always doing so with an innovative and creative approach instigated by our residents and local groups.

“This year, as part of the Jo Cox Great Get Together commemorations, we are proud to be supporting a number of events over the Great Get Together weekend in the Borough, several of which have been directly supported via our Community Festivals Funds. I do hope you have a chance to visit some of them and get involved.”
Councillor Jonathan Simpson, Cabinet Member for Culture and the Voluntary Sector
“I am looking forward to opening ‘The Fair in the Square’ in Pond Square, Highgate on Saturday 17 June as part of ‘The Great Get Together Weekend’.

“I am also delighted that on that weekend so many events are taking place right across the borough from street parties and lunches to bike fairs and films. These events will bring together our wonderfully diverse community demonstrating once again that we are a community with roots in every corner of the globe. We are all faiths and none; we are many, we are one and we know how to party.”
Councillor Richard Cotton, Mayor of Camden
