Take part in Britain’s largest digital democracy trial
“Who Cares? A Camden conversation about adult social care” is Britain’s largest ever trial of digital democracy, giving thousands of residents the chance to shape decisions about adult social care.
The council has been inviting residents aged 16 plus to share what matters most when they, or a loved one needs care and support, whether that’s later in life, living with a disability, or recovering from an injury or ill health. Whether or not they have direct experience of the care system, their views will help influence both local and national decision making.
Working with a coalition of partners, Camden Council aims to empower residents to have their voices heard on one of the country’s most pressing issues.
This is the third phase of the borough-wide conversation about adult social care that over 1,200 Camden residents have taken part in since September 2025, and residents will be asked to review emerging themes from previous phases, including:
- Quality of care
- Cost and affordability
- Independence at home
A digital democracy trial is essentially a pilot scheme to make it easier for thousands of people to take part in debates, share views, and shape real decisions. Participation takes 15 minutes and those who takes part will be entered into a £1,000 prize draw. The closing date is 11:59pm, 8 February 2026.
At some point in our lives, we will all need care and support – but perhaps we don’t always think about it until we suddenly need to. This exciting new project allows us to hear what matters most to thousands of people across Camden’s diverse communities, helping guide how social care can be improved not just in Camden, but in the rest of the UK. Camden is pioneering in how we involve citizens in answering big questions, and I encourage those who can to take part in this conversation.
How to take part
Residents are encouraged to take part in a way that is best for them. This may include with the support of a carer or family or through assistance at one of Camden’s libraries or community centres. Residents without internet or device access can visit a drop-in digital support session.
