Stephen Hall appointed as new Chief Executive of Camden Learning
This week, Stephen Hall will begin work as the new Chief Executive Officer of Camden Learning.
Camden Learning is the local partnership between every state school in Camden and the Council. It supports schools’ development, improves teaching and learning practices, encourages collaboration, and supports delivery of Building Back Stronger, Camden’s ambitious Education Strategy. It also aims to attract, retain, and develop the very best teachers, headteachers and school leaders for Camden schools.
Stephen Hall will take the position of CEO of Camden Learning from Thursday (1 September) after previously being the Assistant Director for School Standards and Improvement at Hackney Education.
Before becoming an Assistant Director, Stephen was the Executive Headteacher of the Viridis Federation of Orchard, Southwold, and Hoxton Garden Schools in Hackney.
Stephen has extensive experience in and across schools and leadership, including working as an Advanced Skills Teacher and a National Leader in Education. Stephen is also an Ofsted inspector.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside Camden schools and the Council to make sure that every child has the best educational opportunities. Camden is a forward-thinking borough that shows real ambition for its young people and I can't wait to get started.

We are excited about Stephen joining Camden Learning. He not only brings huge expertise and a wealth of experience but also has the many qualities needed to build good relationships with our schools and communities. Stephen’s career demonstrates a determined and successful drive for both excellence and equity, which are fundamental to all we do in Camden Learning. Stephen’s many strengths will enable him to lead Camden Learning well, as it implements the new education strategy, responds confidently to national changes and helps to make even more of a difference to the lives of children and young people.

I’m delighted to welcome Stephen as the new Chief Executive of Camden Learning. Stephen has extensive experience, at both London borough and school level, including his work as an Assistant Director supporting school standards and improvement in Hackney, and I’m sure that he will be a fantastic addition to the team. This is an exciting time to join Camden as we develop our latest education strategy to ensure education settings are fit for the current challenges facing the borough up to 2030, and I look forward to working with Stephen to further this work.
