I am deeply saddened to hear that the young man who was stabbed in West Hampstead on 29 January has tragically died from his injuries. My thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his family, friends and loved ones at this painful time. Our thoughts are also with our local Somali community, who I know will be deeply affected by this loss.
Violence has no place in Camden. We are a borough built on respect, solidarity and strong communities - and this tragic loss of a young life will be profoundly felt across our borough.
To anyone in our community struggling with this news, we are here for you. Our focus at this difficult time is on working closely with the police and local partners to provide reassurance and support to our communities.
We are increasing community safety patrols in the area and will continue to work with local faith leaders, community organisations and Neighbourhood Police teams to help ensure people feel safe and able to access support.
