Starting school in Camden 2025

Download

All Camden’s primary schools have 'good' or 'outstanding' Ofsted outcomes. Parents and carers need to apply for a reception place for their child before 15 January 2025.

The borough’s provisional national 2024 test results show that 72% of 11-year-olds in Camden achieved expectations for reading, writing and maths - well above the national figure of 61% and the London average of 67%.

Education in Camden is dynamic, collaborative and creative – as well as diverse and inclusive. The Council has continued to invest in improving school buildings and facilities

Camden primary schools also offer a huge range of extracurricular activities - with access to world-class venues and institutions on their doorstep, ranging from the British Museum to the Francis Crick Institute. Music is important in Camden schools – and our primary schools will be among those taking part in the Camden Schools’ Music Festival at the Royal Albert Hall in April 2025. The first Camden Schools Art Biennale Exhibition was held at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, Granary Square, in July 2024, showcasing the artwork of hundreds of local pupils to over 5,200 visitors.

Councillor Marcus Boyland, Cabinet Member for Best Start for Children and Families

We’re proud that Camden primary schools consistently outperform the national average. This success is driven by outstanding teaching, a rich, creative curriculum with music at its core, and unparalleled access to some of the best museums, galleries, cultural and scientific institutions on our doorstep.

Inclusion and diversity are highly valued by Camden schools, and we believe that a system supporting all backgrounds and abilities benefits every child. I urge parents to find out more about what Camden primary schools have to offer their children and apply before 15 January.
