New apprenticeship levy

The government has announced an apprenticeship levy to be charged to all employers with payrolls over £3 million - roughly 120 staff.

From April 2017, all employers will have the charge levied at a rate of 0.5% of salary costs over £3 million. Employers that pay the levy will then be able to use the money to fund apprenticeship training.

Employers are encouraged to prepare in advance, if you haven’t previously hired apprentices or if you need to change your existing apprenticeship schemes to take advantage of the funds generated by the levy.
