National teachers’ strike

Updated: 30 June 2023.

The National Education Union (NEU) has announced that their members working in schools in England and Wales will hold a further two days of national strikes on Wednesday 5 July and Friday 7 July 2023.

These will affect schools across the country, including Camden. Individual schools will let parents and carers know how the strikes will impact them, and if their child’s school or parts of the school will need to close on these planned strike days.

Camden schools will also be in touch with families regarding provision, such as packed lunches, for children who receive free school meals – and if any vulnerable children are able to attend school on the affected days.

Councillor Marcus Boyland, Cabinet Member for Best Start for Children and Families

Alongside Camden Learning, we are working closely with our family of schools at this time. The nature of the strikes will affect each school differently, and schools will be in direct contact with families on whether they will close, partially close, or remain open. We also want to make sure that children who receive free school meals do not lose this support, and we will be working with school staff and our catering contractor to ensure this provision can remain in place.
