Have your say on alcohol licensing and late-night venues in Camden
Residents, businesses, and visitors are invited to have their say on Camden’s draft new Statement of Licensing Policy for 2025-2030.
The council is reviewing how it regulates and licences local businesses that sell or supply alcohol and provide late-night entertainment or refreshments, with a particular focus to improve women’s safety in the borough.
The draft new policy sets out Camden’s vision to support local nightlife and ensure the safety of residents and visitors.
We want Camden to be a safe and enjoyable place at night for both our residents and visitors. We hope this draft licensing policy will give a boost to Camden’s nightlife and support local businesses in the hospitality industry, while we commit to addressing community concerns such as women’s safety and anti-social behaviour.
I strongly encourage anyone who lives, works, or visits Camden to complete the consultation to share your views on the proposals.
Changes proposed in the draft new licensing policy include:
- An enhanced pre-application advice service to improve clarity around licence applications
- Integrating increased measures for venues to promote women’s safety and prevent drink-spiking
- Allowing licenced premises to apply to extend framework hours by 30 minutes
- Introducing set principles and best practices to prevent crime and public nuisance
- A revised enforcement and monitoring framework
