Groundbreaking marks the start of construction for 119 new homes at Maitland Park

A groundbreaking event at the Maitland Park development in Haverstock has marked the start of construction of new council homes and community facilities.

Due to be completed in summer 2022, the new development will deliver 119 new homes including 51 new council properties, a new outdoor play area, new community hall and improved green spaces.

Modern, larger homes will provide more space for families and each building will feature biodiverse roof with solar panels to help residents cut their fuel bills and carbon emissions.

On July 30th, Councillor Danny Beales met with Maitland Park constructors, Bouygues, at the development to mark the start of the project and welcome the latest expansion of the Council’s Community Investment Project.

Through our Community Investment programme, we are proud to be delivering much needed new council homes in Camden, encompassing all types and tenures, alongside new and improved schools and community spaces where our vibrant communities can thrive.

We are building homes that meet the highest standards, which are green, modern and have enough space for our families to grow - including at Maitland Park where we are working with residents to deliver 119 new homes, over 50 of which will be available at council rent.

Each of the new buildings at Maitland Park will feature biodiverse roofs with solar panels and the estate will also benefit from a new community hall, enhanced green spaces and play and fitness facilities.

The new Maitland Park development is part of Camden’s innovative Community Investment Programme, which has built 950 new homes and provided new council homes to over 1,000 residents, including 447 children, many of whom previously live in overcrowded homes.

The programme has also delivered award winning, energy efficient homes and has built three new school buildings, two community centres and refurbished two homeless hostels.
