Gospel Oak and Haverstock Community Vision adopted

Camden council have adopted the Gospel Oak and Haverstock Community Vision as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).

Councillor Danny Beales, Cabinet Member for New Homes, Jobs and Community Investment

“After several years and through hundreds of conversations with the local community and other stakeholders, I am extremely pleased that this shared community vision, for Gospel Oak and Haverstock, is now in place.

“The area covered has diverse communities where people value many things; from community facilities and the essential services they offer, to its trees and access to green spaces and to the diversity of the people who call the area their home.

“Residents clearly want improvements that make the area even better. Priorities include improving Queens Crescent, delivering new affordable housing, making the community safer and more. In the face of the ongoing impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, climate change and the cost-of-living crisis, this vision will support environmentally sustainable, social and economic change.

“We have heard loud and clear that residents now want action as well as discussion. This is why we’re committed to an action plan alongside this vision, to show clear timescales for delivery. Work on delivering £2m of investment into Queens Crescent, the delivery of new council homes and other projects in the area are already underway, however we know there is even more to do.”

Councillor Danny Beales, Cabinet Member for New Homes, Jobs and Community Investment

Working closely with the community to produce the Gospel Oak and Haverstock Community Vision and, following two stages of public consultation beginning in autumn 2020, this planning guidance was adopted by Camden Council on 4 November 2022.

With significant development and projects coming forward in the area, this guidance sets out the vision, priorities and principles to help guide future proposals and deliver positive benefits, such as investment in public spaces and local green, social and recreational infrastructure.
