Get active at a Camden outdoor gym this summer

Local residents recently joined council staff to celebrate the refurbishment and reopening of the Maygrove Peace Park outdoor gym.

Cllr Abdul Hai, Council Cabinet Member for Customers, Communities and Culture
“Outdoor gyms contain equipment that you would find at many indoor venues, the difference being that they are designed for outdoor use. All of the gyms are slightly different, so there are always lots of activities and exercises to get active with across the borough.

“We are delighted that our outdoor gyms have been upgraded and are very grateful to the Friends of Maygrove Peace Park and local residents for their involvement.

“We are extremely pleased that the hand cycle and tai chi circles were chosen, as these are particularly suited to people with disabilities.”
Cllr Abdul Hai, Council Cabinet Member for Customers, Communities and Culture

Maygrove Peace Park is one of six outdoor gyms that have had new equipment installed, following consultation with local residents and users, including the Friends of Maygrove Peace Park, who made suggestions as to which equipment would be most beneficial for users of all abilities.

The outdoor gyms are free to use and the equipment is suitable for people who are 14 or older. As well as having some new core gym equipment, some of the gyms now offer equipment for activities such as table tennis, trampolining and kickboxing.
