Funding available to bring Camden’s communities closer

Applications are now open for Camden residents and Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations (VCSOs) to apply for grants of £500 to £1,500 to provide activities that help bring people from different communities and lifestyles across the borough together.

The funding follows the first ‘We make Camden’ community event in April and is part of the Council’s work to create a new raft of initiatives to instil a sense of belonging across the borough.

Councillor Abdul Hai, Cabinet Member for Young People and Cohesion
“Recent events like the homophobic attack on a couple on a London bus are examples of everything we as a borough stand against. Only by working together can we ensure that sort of behaviour is never allowed to raise its ugly head.

“We know that Camden’s voluntary groups and residents are already working across our communities to create strong, long lasting ties that bring us closer together whilst also celebrating our diversity.

“This is why we are working with local charity Camden Giving to put our residents at the centre of this project and are looking to support projects based on their own experiences.

“You can apply online or attend one of our workshops where you can discuss your ideas, sit with one of the Camden Giving team to complete your application, and speak to Volunteer Centre Camden who can help match you to organisations who could support you in delivering your project.”
Councillor Abdul Hai, Cabinet Member for Young People and Cohesion

Applications are open for Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations (VCSOs) and their beneficiaries, as well as un-constituted groups for grants of £500 to £1,500 to deliver community-led activities and events that that promote cohesion at a grassroots level.

Residents that have an idea for a proposal should partner with a voluntary or community sector organisation to deliver the project. Volunteer Centre Camden can provide more information, advice and support on how to partner with an organisation.

Applications opened on 10 June and will close on 1 July 2019.

The application form should take approximately 30 minutes to complete, if you need support please contact Camden Giving for further assistance.
