Tuesday 13 July

Following flooding in areas of Camden last night, our teams have been working with emergency services to support residents who have been affected.

Last night, teams attended the flooded areas alongside emergency services to make sure our residents were safe and support a small number of households with emergency accommodation. We also despatched repairs teams to Council homes in need of emergency repairs. Cleaning teams are currently out dealing with sand, silt and debris from most of the affected pavements and carriageways where it is safe to do so. We are closely monitoring the situation.

For help and support

Council homes:

  • For emergency repairs to your council home caused by flooding, call housing repairs on 020 7974 4444, option 3 then 1. We are currently only taking emergency calls. If your repair is not an emergency, please report it online using your Camden Account. If you or someone else is in immediate danger call the emergency services on 999.
  • If you need help or support because of flooding, contact your neighbourhood housing officer.

Gullies and drains:

  • Report blocked gullies or drains, which are not the main sewer and are not on private property here.

Public sewers and burst water mains:

If you suspect a blockage, of if your property has been flooded by the public sewer, contact Thames Water

Private sewers:

Sewers on private property are the responsibility of the property owner if they serve only that property. Beyond the property boundary, the pipes are the responsibility of Thames Water following the 2011 private sewer transfer.

If the pipes are shared with another property or were installed before 1937 visit thameswater.co.uk

Water service pipe or internal pipe work:

The property owner is responsible for all water pipe work and should keep it maintained using a suitably qualified plumber.

Important advice if you are experiencing a flood:

  • Do not touch sources of electricity when standing in flood water.
  • Avoid walking or driving in or near flooded areas.
  • Do not allow children to play in flooded areas.
  • Avoid contact with flood water if possible and wash your hands regularly.
  • Check in on family, friends and neighbours who may need extra support.
