Fire safety works on the Chalcots Estate - Latest Update 10 July 2017 5pm

Workmen have been on site throughout the weekend progressing the remedial works needed at the Chalcots blocks:

  • We completed works to secure central stairway doors throughout Burnham, Bray and Dorney. Taplow is due for completion tomorrow.

  • Basement works are now complete in Dorney.

  • We’ve completed works to stop any potential spread of smoke and fire in the building, including installing fire retardant insulation around gas work and cable trays in Bray block. These works are due to be completed in Dorney, Burnham and Taplow on Wednesday 12 July.

  • Works are now in progress across Burnham, Bray, Dorney and Taplow to upgrade the seals, letterboxes and door closers to flat entrance doors.

You can read the detailed works programme here and our summary of works is below. This was last updated at 1pm on Tuesday 11 July 2017.

Call for Chalcots resident support

In order to begin the process of getting you back home we urgently need residents to help us access your flat to complete the necessary works to flat entrance doors. Council officers are calling residents to book appointments on a floor by floor basis. However, you can also contact us via the Chalcots residents’ helpline, 0207 974 4444 (option7), to book an appointment. We particularly need to reach residents on the following floors:

  • Ground floor to 5th floor in Burnham

  • Ground and 1st floors of Dorney

  • Ground floor to 3rd floor in Bray

  • Ground and 1st floor of Taplow

Thank you for your continued support and in particular to those that have so far helped us to gain access to their flats.

We are still working towards starting to move residents back into their homes this week, with residents from the lower floors of Burnham likely to be the first to move, hopefully from this Wednesday (12 July).

We are due to meet with the fire service tomorrow (11 July) to discuss progress on the works. We will only ask residents to return to the blocks once independent building inspections have been carried out and both the Council and the Fire Service are certain that it is safe to do so.

Residents can access a dedicated Chalcots residents’ line via Contact Camden at 020 7974 4444, option 7 (24 hours a day).
