“Every report matters” – Camden steps up approach to tackling anti-social behaviour
Camden Council commits to responding to every report of anti-social behaviour, while boosting patrols at estates and spaces across the borough.
The council is taking a joint approach with the police, community partners, and residents to help tackle the issue and make Camden a safer place for everyone.
Anti-social behaviour is any behaviour that makes you feel unsafe, or that you feel might make others feel unsafe. This could include drug use or drug dealing, threatening behaviour, abuse, vandalism, or property damage.
The updated Anti-Social Behaviour Policy now includes specific actions to help residents living on Camden’s estates feel safer in and around their homes. This includes allocating dedicated teams of Community Safety Enforcement Officers to hotspot areas.
Residents are urged to report any anti-social behaviour via our online reporting tool, or by calling 0207 974 4444. In an emergency always call 999.
Every incident reported will be assessed by an officer from our Community Safety Team. The team gathers evidence and interviews any victims or witnesses, working with specialist teams and the police to develop an action plan to address the issue. This could involve patrolling the area, issuing formal warnings, or taking appropriate legal action. In some cases, support interventions from mental health services, housing, social services, may be needed to ensure the correct support and treatment of perpetrators.
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home and out in the community, without fear of intimidation or harassment. By working together with residents, our community safety team and our partners, we can reduce the potential for harm – and even save lives.
Through this stepped-up approach, we will be raising awareness of the ways residents can report anti-social behaviour to us as well as shining a light on our Community Safety Team who do vital work to keep residents safe and help us to build trust with communities.
