Early years proposals focus on first 1001 days of child’s life

Camden’s Cabinet will be asked to agree to the Council consulting on proposals for our early years services to provide a greater focus on children’s crucial first 1001 days of life.

A report to the meeting on 13 November outlines a proposed new approach, which would aim to narrow the gap of achievement and wellbeing between disadvantaged children and others in the borough.

The changes outlined in the Cabinet report, which would be subject to full public consultation early next year, would also aim to address the high level of vacancies in Council-run nurseries and make better use of nurseries based in local primary schools, which would in turn help those schools to recruit more pupils.
