Councillor Rahman celebrates her Mayoral year success
Councillor Nazma Rahman has celebrated a successful year as the Mayor of Camden, raising an impressive £31,892.01 for her chosen charity, Young Camden Foundation (YCF).
YCF is a membership and youth infrastructure charity that works across the borough to address investment in the children and youth sector in Camden and provide a local support for its members. YCF does this through training, fundraising, partnerships and advocacy to better equip the local community with resources and funding, connecting and working with organisations to develop new approaches to supporting young people.
Over the past year, Councillor Rahman took part in 380 civic engagements in her fundraising for the charity, with other highlights including the launch of three significant YCF initiatives: the Business Partnership Programme, the Young Ambassadors Programme, and a Youth Workers Forum for Camden.
She also welcomed overseas visitors from South Africa, Kagoshima and Bangladesh to the Borough and attended the launch event of the BSL curriculum for primary and secondary schools nationally, Camden’s eco-champion awards and hosted receptions for several of faith representatives.

The work of the children and youth sector can sometimes be underestimated, and we are so proud that Councillor Nazma Rahman chose to showcase a charity working in the local community to support the sector’s crucial work.
“The fundraising successes have themselves been a wonderful achievement, significantly boosting our grant-giving to the sector this year – and we are particularly proud of Councillor Nazma Rahman’s unwavering support of Camden’s Holiday Activities and Food programme, which we deliver with Camden Council, which supports children and young people eligible for Free School Meals during the main holidays.

During her Mayoral year, Councillor Rahman also participated in cultural events ranging from celebrating Eid, Christmas, to Chinese New Year, Hannukah and Diwali and beyond, whilst also attending events held in schools, colleges, universities, and local libraries to further foster community engagement and inclusivity.

This money will make a profound impact on the lives of many young people in Camden and the charities and community organisations across our borough that support them.
A special thank you goes to my dedicated office team, the Young Camden Foundation team, our esteemed Councillors, and every individual who lent their support throughout this remarkable journey. I am filled with immense pride for every one of you.
Other highlights of the year saw Councillor Rahman hosting multiple events including a successful dinner in The Crypt, Bleeding Heart, an evening with Alastair and Grace Campbell, a private viewing of The Roman exhibition at the British Library, and fundraising walks organised by Alan Hovell, The Kilburn Stroller and carol singing at Euston Station with Camden schools to raise funds for Young Camden Foundation.
Councillor Rahman will continue to encourage young people to achieve their potential. Following her mayoral year, she will become a foundation governor at Camden School for Girls.
