Council meeting Monday 18 November

The Mayor of Camden, acting on the advice of the Borough Solicitor, and following disruption at our last two Council meetings, has decided to close the public gallery for November’s Council meeting (Monday 18 November). 

This is due to concerns the meeting would again be disrupted. This decision follows the closure of the public gallery at the Council meeting in March, after disruption at the meeting in January 2024.

Closing the public gallery is always a last resort but it is vital that our elected councillors have the opportunity to discuss and debate issues of importance to the borough. Camden Council values the contributions and interactions of residents at Council meetings and the decision was taken to ensure scheduled council business that provides these opportunities can take place. This includes a themed debate on Camden’s response to the government’s consultation on the 10 Year Health Plan for England, which includes several contributions from partners and people in our community, and resident deputations.
