Cheaper bills for 3,000 council homes to come following ‘retrofit’ investment

We have been awarded £13.5 million from the Government’s Social Housing Fund Wave 3.

This funding has enabled us to identify a range of potential council blocks best placed to benefit. We will initially install solar panels and battery storage which will benefit residents by reducing their electricity bills, while the overall project will reduce Camden’s emissions by 943 tonnes of carbon each year.

Our retrofit programme, which includes a range of grant funded schemes, can help tackle many of the long-term problems too many of our tenants have faced, like damp and mould. Creating warm, energy efficient homes will help keep our residents warm and healthy and ensure the flats themselves are in a much better shape, for longer.

Residents will see a noticeable improvement in their energy bills. The more homes we retrofit, the more residents we’ll help to reduce their bills and the greater contribution they will make to tackling the climate emergency.
