Changes coming soon to Swiss Cottage Open Space
Work begins early in the New Year to improve Swiss Cottage Open Space.
Swiss Cottage Open Space is a much-loved place for both residents and those who visit the area. It is particularly known for its iconic fountains which are a great draw during the warmer months.
I am pleased that the park will soon benefit from Camden Council’s ongoing Green Space Improvement Programme.
To develop the plans, we listened to residents’ ideas for Swiss Cottage Open Space. The changes will provide new planted terraces and mounds of meadow grass, ‘rain gardens’ that help retain water and improve biodiversity, and an improved toddler play area with new play equipment, seating and planting.
Councillor Harrison continued:
“It’s important to make all our parks in Camden as welcoming, green and biodiverse as possible. We will therefore be making accessibility improvements, resurfacing paths and planting new trees.”
The changes will keep the south-facing lawn area with space for people to relax informally, especially in the summer.
The works are scheduled to begin in January and will be completed by May 2025. We are currently developing designs for the rest of the space.
