Camden’s Community Infrastructure Levy

On 1 April 2015 we are introducing a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) for the borough. This is a new tax which will be collected from developers and will be used to pay for infrastructure such as transport and schools. Some CIL money could also be available for more local projects. Over the coming year we will develop a system to help decide what local projects could receive funding once the CIL funds have been collected.

The CIL is charged per square metre and will be collected from developers when their developments start. The CIL applies to projects which add one or more dwelling or more than 100 square metres of floorspace, which were granted planning permission after 1 April 2015. For more information on how the CIL system will operate please see the CIL pages on the Camden website at camden.gov.uk/cil.
