‘Camden Together’ kicks off this weekend to celebrate borough’s cultural sector

Residents are invited to join ‘Camden Together’ – a series of events, exhibitions, and activities to celebrate the borough’s arts, cultural, entertainment and creative sector.

‘Camden Together’ is a season of events taking place from August to October 2022 and aims to celebrate the borough’s rich and vibrant cultural landscape through music, dance, art, food, and fashion.

After a successful launch last year, ‘Camden Together’ will kick off this weekend (Saturday 13 August) with the ‘This is… A Variety Spectacular’ - an outdoor community variety show with magicians, music and much more.

Organised by Camden Council and Cultural Camden, other top events include the ‘This is… Camden’s Young Creatives’ on 27 August which will showcase the best of local young talent and the ‘This Is… Culture’ event hosted by the Camden Black Creatives on 1 October. This all-day event will celebrate the cultural diversity of Camden with an outdoor fashion show, live music, poetry and food and drink.

The closing event will take place on 29 October with the ‘Day of the Dead: A Celebration of Life’ festival which will take place on Ossulston Street for visitors to experience the annual Mexican tradition. The packed programme will include Mexican arts and crafts, food, live Mariachi music, and dance, as well as face painting, family workshops, poetry, and films.

Councillor Sabrina Francis, Cabinet Member for Young People and Culture

The ‘Camden Together’ season is a brilliant chance to celebrate the borough’s rich culture and diversity and I’d encourage as many people as possible to get involved and experience what will be an amazing set of events. Camden’s cultural and creative sector is still recovering from the impacts of the pandemic and these events give communities the chance to get together, support and celebrate what makes Camden so special.

Councillor Sabrina Francis, Cabinet Member for Young People and Culture

All events are free to the public and suitable for all ages.
