Camden residents to benefit from AI revolution
Following the Prime Minister’s speech on artificial intelligence (AI) on Monday 13 January 2025, Camden Council’s Leader Councillor Richard Olszewski explained the role Camden will play and how this will be a huge opportunity for many residents.
Camden will be at the forefront of the AI revolution – and our residents will be driving this forward and benefitting from its unprecedented and transformative opportunities.
Camden is home to tech giants, research institutes and innovative, creative and ambitious thinkers – so we have all the raw materials to play a leading role in this success. It’s our residents who stand to benefit most through the new industry – and we’re making sure this happens.
In November, the Prime Minister launched the London AI Campus in King’s Cross – a dedicated centre which aims to broaden opportunities into the AI sector. The Campus provides Camden students from all backgrounds with learning activities, technical skills, mentorship and career readiness support to pursue further education and careers in Camden working in and with AI. Our pioneering Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) programme is helping to maximise relationships between schools and employers to nurture a pipeline of diverse talent that will drive innovation in public services and economic growth in Camden and beyond. And this relationship continues in Higher Education, through our partnership with UCL.
Camden is open to innovation and ready to be a partner on new projects – we are eager to be a flagship area for the Government’s plan. As the Prime Minister said, the government wants to make it easier for tomorrow’s talent to develop here and this is what we’re doing in the Camden.
