Camden releases update of environmental sustainability plan

The Fifth Review of Green Action for Change highlights successes and ambitions for five key environmental issues

Camden is committed to protecting and improving our local environment. To enable us to monitor our actions and progress in this area, we have developed the Camden environmental sustainability plan, Green Action for Change. Every two years we review and update this plan to tell you we have achieved and what we are planning to do in the following two years.

The Fifth Review of Green Action for Change is now available online. It highlights our achievements over 2014-16 and sets out our challenges, ambitions and actions between now and 2018 across five key environmental issues:

  1. Reducing Camden’s carbon emissions
  2. Adapting to changing climate
  3. Reducing, reusing and recycling waste
  4. Improving air quality
  5. Enhancing biodiversity, improving green spaces and involvement in gardening and food growing

The review includes the latest Camden-wide carbon reduction data, which is now 31% below 2005 levels, along with how we intend to tackle fuel poverty, improve air quality and increase our recycling rates to 20% by 2020. As part of the plan we encourage residents, businesses and schools to join us in taking action.
