Camden Leader statement: Somers Town shooting

The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation after a man in his 20s was fatally shot on Chalton Street in Somers Town, on Saturday 28 March 2026.

Councillor Richard Olszewski, Leader of Camden Council, said: “This is a deeply shocking incident, and our immediate thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of the young person who has died.

“Council officers are working with the police leadership to provide protection, support and reassurance for a community that is in shock and fearful at this time.

“Camden Council Community Safety and Youth Support Services are working together with the Police to provide a visible presence in the area and to offer support for young people who may be impacted by the incident, with the focus on keeping our residents safe.

“I encourage anyone with information about this incident to speak to the Police or anonymously to Crimestoppers.”
