Camden launches OurBike cargo bike scheme

Camden council has launched OurBike, an app-based community scheme provided by Peddle My Wheels that allows residents and businesses to hire a cargo bike by the hour.

Organised in partnership with Camden Town Unlimited and Cross River Partnership, the scheme has been funded by the Mayor of London’s Air Quality Fund and DEFRA.

Councillor Adam Harrison, Cabinet member for a Sustainable Camden

“Based in Camden Town, the cargo bike is available to hire by the hour at a very reasonable rate, and for the first year of the scheme users will also receive two hours free per day.

“By making the cargo bike, cheap and easy to hire we hope that both residents and businesses will see the benefits of this mode of transport over polluting motor vehicles for carrying out deliveries and transporting large or bulky items.”

Located on Eversholt Street, outside Lost Boys Pizza, for the first year of the scheme the cargo bike cost is free for the first two hours and then costs £3 an hour thereafter.

All users will be required to undergo a free onboarding session so that they are set up to safely use the bike. For more information and to sign up, visit: https://ourbike.co.uk/register-for-ourbike

The council hope to expand the scheme to more locations across Camden if the pilot is successful and would encourage any businesses or residents to get in touch with suggestions for locations of where we could do this by emailing: [email protected]
