Camden launches further funding through Crowdfund Camden

Camden Council has launched a further funding round as part of its digital crowdfunding initiative Crowdfund Camden.

The funding supports community-led projects that will create more inclusive, sustainable and vibrant town centres and high streets in Camden.

Working in partnership with Spacehive, the UK’s leading crowdfunding platform for local ideas, Crowdfund Camden is an initiative that gives local residents that have an idea to improve their community the opportunity to gain funding via Spacehive’s crowdfunding platform.

This is one of a number of initiatives that form part of the Camden Future High Streets programme, through which the council is supporting local high streets into a robust and re-imagined future.

Councillor Danny Beales, Cabinet Member for New Homes, Jobs and Community Investment

“We are delighted to launch the next Crowdfund Camden funding round with Spacehive to find out what projects exist in our community that can improve Camden’s town centres and high streets.

“Communities always respond with creativity and ingenuity and crowdfunding is a brilliant way of bringing people together to make great local projects happen.

“I am also calling on local organisations to join us in offering support to projects, whether funding or in-kind, so we can look to increase the success of locally led campaigns. The more people that get involved in Crowdfund Camden the more inspiring local places we can create together.”

Councillor Danny Beales, Cabinet Member for New Homes, Jobs and Community Investment

The council has allocated a total of £360,000 to the Crowdfund Camden, with up to £5,000 available per project to help projects reach their crowdfunding target, or up to £35,000 for larger projects with significant local impact. The deadline to submit a project is Wednesday 14 December.

Previous success stories include an exhibition of local businesses in Kentish Town, a cycling initiative in Somers Town, and a sustainable interactive market in Buck Street - all successfully funded through Crowdfund Camden.

  •  Spacehive is a funding platform for local ideas that bring community spaces to life. Its vision is a world where anyone can shape their local area to create places that make people happy, proud and prosperous. The platform pools together funds between councils, businesses, foundations and the local community to pay for projects that improve local places, which typically results in projects securing three times more funding than if they were relying on council funds alone. Projects can range from building a new community centre or improving the local park to improving a playground or putting on a street festival. For more info visit, spacehive.com.
