Camden joins the Love Your Local Market campaign

Camden is joining over 700 markets across the country to celebrate Love Your Local Market, a two week long campaign celebrating the important role markets play within local communities.

Love Your Local Market is a national campaign led by the National Association of British Market Authorities which began in 2012, sparked by concern over the sustainability of England’s high streets.

From May 17 to May 31 a series of events will be run to promote the use of markets and encourage new traders to run stalls, offering anyone of any age considering market trading the chance to give it a go for a few days.

“We are proud to be part of a campaign aimed at raising awareness around our wonderful markets. They are an essential part of our community, providing great opportunities to bring communities together and support local economic development. I urge anyone interested in trying their hand at running a small business to sign up and give it a go.”
Councillor Nadia Shah, Camden Council’s Cabinet Member for Safer Communities

Some of the opportunities offered to new traders will be the chance to access trading pitches for £10 per day, which will includes the temporary street trading license, a pitch, insurance for the day, and the possible provision of a gazebo.
