Camden increases payments for Ukrainian refugee hosts

Camden Council has written to all hosts of Ukrainian refugees to provide them with extra funds to continue to host families amid the cost of living crisis.

From November 2022, and across the winter months, payments to hosts will be increased by £200 per host to a total of £550 per month.

Councillor Georgia Gould, Leader of Camden Council

Camden has always been a place that has welcomed refugees and so far around 200 host families in Camden have provided homes to around 500 Ukrainian refugees. As the war in the Ukraine continues, now is the time to step up further and increase support.

Both our refugees and their hosts need stability and support as the cost of living crisis begins to bite. From today, we are providing additional payments of £200 a month for each host family, taking their overall payment to £550 a month.

We need a long-term Government response and funding commitment to support councils and our communities to assist refugees from both Ukraine and Afghanistan.

Councillor Georgia Gould, Leader of Camden Council

The ‘thank you’ payments for months seven to twelve will be increased by £200 per host from November 2022.
