Camden in Bloom celebrates its winter winners
The inventive and successful gardening efforts of Camden’s residents and community groups has once again been celebrated through the much-anticipated Camden in Bloom competition.
Our annual Camden in Bloom competition is a much-loved perennial, which brings together residents, businesses and communities to celebrate our outdoor spaces.
The competition aims to recognise some of the best gardens in the borough and encourage residents and community groups to create an even greener and more sustainable place to live, grow food and support habitats for nature to thrive.
This also supports several of our council missions including ensuring everyone eats well every day with nutritious, affordable, sustainable food and that our neighbourhoods are healthy and sustainable.
Again, this year’s entrants showed amazing creativity and skill highlighting the possibilities open to gardeners of all ages and abilities, even in a busy London borough.
The competition was supported by our sponsors Camden Garden Centre, and Veolia who provided the awards to the winning gardens.
This year’s winners
Best Front Garden was won by Allan Bush, who impressed the judges with the transformation of his children’s patio into a lush container garden. It was the first time he has entered the competition.
Best Communal Food Growing was won by the Waterhouse Gardening club, located in Waterhouse Close, a sheltered housing unit that supports older residents to live independently. This group volunteered their time to improve and grow their communal garden with help from The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), growing tomatoes, potatoes, beans and much more.
Best Communal Nature Garden was won by residents of the Whittington Estate. Identifying suitable areas of the estate, they worked with local gardening organisation Growing Green and planted many wildlife-friendly plants, trees and shrubs, also creating wood piles for insects to take shelter.
All winners received a voucher for Camden Garden Centre, along with a range of gardening tools and accessories which were sponsored by Veolia.
Camden in Bloom 2025 will launch again in April next year and we’re encouraging as many people as possible to get involved and share their wonderful green spaces.
