Camden, Brent and Westminster Councils launch consultation for a Better, Safer Kilburn
Camden Council in collaboration with Brent Council and the City of Westminster have launched a consultation to make Kilburn Town Centre a more enjoyable area to walk, cycle and shop.
The tri-borough consultation, which is open until Friday 23 August, includes proposals to improve road safety and local air quality as well as encourage walking and cycling to make Kilburn a better and safer place for residents as well as attract more visitors to the area.
Some of the main proposals outlined in the consultation include:
- Widening pavements
- Adding more seating and cycle parking
- Planting more trees and pocket parks
- Adding more pedestrian crossing
- Longer bus stops and bus lane hours
- New protected cycle crossings and cycle lanes
- Adding traffic restrictions on some side roads
- Changes to loading and parking on Kilburn High Road and side roads
Over several years, we along with Brent and Westminster councils, have been working to transform Kilburn High Road to tackle its poor road safety record, and provide a more inviting and accessible experience for everyone who visits the area.
This consultation is the next step to making more improvements to the area – including proposals which will make the area easier to cycle and travel through, and a more attractive place to shop and enjoy. I’d encourage local residents and stakeholders to have their say to help shape the future of the area and make it a better safer place for all.
