Camden’s Black History Season has arrived

The Council’s celebration of Black history, culture and creativity is back – from live performances to exhibitions, tours and more.

Camden Council’s pioneering Black History Season is regarded as one of the longest celebrations of Black History in the country, and this year boasts the biggest programme of events yet.

For the seventh year, the season will run from autumn into winter, offering London and visitors from across the UK the opportunity to immerse themselves in the contributions of Black people through stories, film, music and art.

The wealth of events available to book now includes weekly lunches and games with Carib Eats Weekly, big laughs and a line-up full of talent at Come Mek We Larf, inspiring talks held at Camden Town Hall, like Legacy in Motion and an exhibition by Camden artist Matt Small.

Most events are free or Pay What You Can with proceeds from selected events supporting the vital work of the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (@acltcharity).

“

“From live performances, Caribbean cook-ups to thoughtfully curated exhibitions, Camden’s extended Black History Season brings Black history to life, honours lasting legacies, and celebrates communities that have shaped Camden and continue to do so today.

“If you live in London and want to discover something new, or deepen your understanding of Black history, then book your place on one of Camden’s free and low-cost Black History Season events while spaces are available.”

Councillor Sabrina Francis, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Young People and Culture
