Apprentices in Camden celebrated at awards ceremony

Last week [9 February], Camden Council hosted its annual Big Thank You event - an awards ceremony dedicated to celebrating the work and achievements of apprentices recruited via Camden Apprenticeships Service.

The Camden Apprenticeships Awards 2024 recognised the work of apprentices working in the Council and organisations in Camden, as well as the training providers and staff supporting them.

Top award of the night ‘Apprentice of the Year’, went to Fabiana Ferreira, who works as part of the Homelessness Prevention Team.

Other award categories included ‘Most Improved’, ‘Best Team Player’, ‘Best Progression’ and ‘Supervisor of the Year’ to recognise Council managers or local employers who support apprentices in Camden.

Councillor Sabrina Francis, Cabinet Member for Young People and Culture

Each year we host this event to celebrate the fantastic achievements of Camden’s apprentices, whilst also shining a light on managers and training providers who work incredibly hard to make apprenticeships such a success in the borough – a big congratulations to all the winners!

Apprenticeships are a great way to help local people get the training needed to secure good employment. So far this year we’ve delivered 174 apprenticeships for residents, and we’re committed to increasing this programme to ensure more opportunities and training programmes are available for even more residents across the borough.

Full list of winners:

  • Most Improved Apprentice: Ahlaan Mohamed, Project Support Officer in Camden Council’s Inclusive Economy team.
  • Best Team Player: Yasmin Goma, Resident Liasion Apprentice for LawTech.
  • Best Apprentice Progression: Svitlana Frolova, Council Tax and Business Rates Apprentice at Camden Council.
  • Supervisor of the Year: Mekala Oxley, Business Support Team Leader at Camden Council.
  • Highly Commended Award: Kadie Gallagher, Sports Coach Apprentice at Eleanor Palmer School. The judges wanted to acknowledge one apprentice for a Highly Commended award. This was due to the outstanding nominations received and their difficulty in selecting an overall winner.
  • Apprentice of the Year: Fabiana Ferreira, Homelessness Prevention Apprentice at Camden Council.
