Annual canvass 2024: Make sure you’re registered to vote
Camden residents are being asked to look out for emails and letters about their voter registration details as part of the annual canvass.
Every year, we write to all households to check residents are on the electoral register, are able to vote and that their details – such as their name and address – are correct and up to date. This is called the annual canvass.
We’re getting in touch with all households by email or letter. You’re required by law to respond to the annual canvass. Registering to vote is important to make sure you can have your say in elections, which can be called at any time. It’s particularly important to check your details are up to date if you’ve moved recently.
How to respond
If you get an email, it will be from electoral.services.camden.council@notifications.service.gov.uk with the subject line: ‘Annual canvass 2024’
You’ll be asked to use a unique two-part security code from the email to respond online at registersecurely.com/camden. Only one person needs to respond on behalf of the household, but if you aren’t registered to vote, you’ll need to do this yourself online at gov.uk/register-to-vote or call 020 7974 4444.
You may receive a letter in the post with a green or pink form.
- Green form: Check the information on the form and let us know if any changes are needed – it’s easiest to do this online using the two-part security code on the form at registersecurely.com/camden If everything is correct, you don’t need to do anything.
- Pink form: You must respond to this form. It’s easiest to do this online using the two-part security code on the form at registersecurely.com/camden to confirm the information is correct or update details. If everything is correct, you can also let us know by phoning 0800 316 1571 (free), or text ‘NOCHANGE’ to 07860017324 (standard network charges apply).
You can also return either form for free to:

About the electoral register
The annual canvass ends on 31 January 2025. Anyone registering to vote for the first time during this period will join the electoral register on 1 February 2025 when the revised register is published.
There are two versions of the electoral register. The full register is used for electoral purposes only, while the open register is an extract of the full register that is available to anyone who wants to buy a copy.
If you’re currently registered to vote, your email or letter will state if you are listed on the full or open electoral register. When you register to vote or update your details, you can choose to opt out of the ‘open register’. This does not affect your right to vote.
