Annual Canvass 2023: Make sure you are registered to vote
Camden residents are being asked to look out for letters and emails about their voter registration details as part of the Annual Canvass.
The Canvass takes places each year and is an opportunity for residents to make sure that they are on the electoral register, are able to vote, and that their details – such as their name and address – are correct and up to date.
Residents can expect to receive an Annual Canvass Form either by email or by post from 23 August 2023.
Residents will receive a green or a pink form and will simply need to follow the instructions sent to them:
- Pink form: reply as instructed on the form.
- Green form: If all your information is correct, you do not need to do anything. If your information needs updating, please go to registersecurely.com/camden or call Electoral Services on 020 7974 4444.
If you are not currently registered to vote, your name will not appear in the letter or email that we send. If you want to register to vote the easiest way to do so is online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote, but you will still need to respond to the form that you receive if it is pink.
The Canvass will end on 24 November 2023. Anyone registering to vote for the first time during this period will join the electoral register on 1st December 2023 when the revised register is published.
With elections taking place in Camden next year, this is an important opportunity for residents to make sure that they can take part and have their say on the decisions that affect them.
Recent home movers in particular are urged to check their details. Electoral Commission research has found that recent home movers are less likely to be registered than those who have lived at the same address for a long time.
If you have questions about registering to vote you can contact the elections team at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone on 020 7974 4444.
