Winter weather update
In the event of snow and ice in Camden, this page will provide daily updates on gritting and any issues or changes to services caused by the weather. Information for borough staff may also be included.
19/03/18 - 12.40pm:
All priority routes and bridge decks were gritted yesterday evening, and checked again at 5am this morning to ensure they were clear of snow and ice.
There is some residual snow and ice on some side roads and pavements, but conditions are anticipated to improve through the day as it warms up.
We have access to over 1,000 tonnes of grit. Take a look at the gritting routes we follow and where your nearest grit bin is on our winter weather pages.
Bin collections and street cleansing
We currently have a full Monday waste collection and street cleansing service in operation today.
The outdoor pitches at Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre, Talacre Sports Centre and Cantelowes Gardens have been affected by the recent cold weather. For updates please visit the websites for the individual centres linked above.
Help for people rough sleeping
In this severe weather we are working hard to help those people on our streets into temporary accommodation. We have made additional emergency beds available including working with the voluntary sector to secure bed spaces in projects in Camden and across London. These bed spaces are made available to anyone sleeping rough where ever they are from.
Our specialist outreach service, the Safer Streets Team (SST) are undertaking additional patrols with our Community Presence Officers as part of our hotspot teams in order to contact as many of the people sleeping rough on our streets as possible and help them into accommodation.
With the continuing cold weather make sure you take all the usual sensible precautions and keep warm!
