Three Lions on a screen – Camden Council announces World Cup screening events

Residents and families are able to come together to enjoy England’s crunch World Cup semi-final versus Croatia this evening, after Camden Council organised two outdoor screening locations in the borough.

Big screens will be located in Russell Square and Talacre Gardens for Camden’s communities to enjoy a friendly, outdoor atmosphere for this evening’s England vs Croatia semi-final (7pm kick-off).

Councillor Georgia Gould, Leader of Camden Council
England's march towards the World Cup final continues and we're going to cheer the team on here in Camden with big screens at two great locations. Residents can enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere at Russell Square and Talacre where our staff will be on hand to make sure everything goes smoothly.

I’d like to send a massive thank you to our leisure partners Better who have generously part-funded the screenings of these games, contributing half the money. We really appreciate their support in making this happen for our communities.

I’ll be down at Talacre this evening, I’m looking forward to residents of all ages coming along, sharing the community spirit and creating a fun, family atmosphere through cheering on England in this huge game.

Councillor Georgia Gould, Leader of Camden Council

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “Tonight’s match is one of the biggest sporting occasions for a generation and I am delighted that Camden Council has organised two big screenings for residents and their families.

“This team are already heroes – but they now have a chance to become legends - and Camden residents will join millions of Londoners cheering England on tonight.”
