Jon Abbey appointed as the first Managing Director of Camden Learning

Camden Learning, a not for profit schools company set up by schools in Camden and Camden Council, is delighted to announce that Jon Abbey has been appointed as its first Managing Director.

Camden Learning aims to secure the highest standards, providing support and expert guidance by schools for schools, great outcomes for pupils and to ensure no child in Camden is left behind.

Jon Abbey takes up the position following a period as Director of Children's Services in Haringey.

He said: “I am delighted to accept this post as Camden Learning's first Managing Director. I believe that Camden Learning represents an exciting new approach to delivering world-class education in the capital. I am immensely proud of the achievements made during my time in Haringey and leave behind a great team”.

Christine Gilbert, Independent Chair of Camden Learning, said: “We are delighted that Jon will be Camden Learning's first leader. He brings a wealth of experience in school leadership and system improvement and he understands schools, heads, teachers and pupils. I am really looking forward to working with him”.

Councillor Angela Mason CBE, Cabinet Member for Children
Jon's appointment to lead Camden Learning into a new era of school-led improvement is tremendously exciting. I am sure the family of schools in Camden will go from strength to strength as a result of this new and innovative partnership with the Council.
