Housing Action Day
Our private sector housing team will be out in force on Wednesday 26 April, cracking down on landlords renting ‘Houses in Multiple Occupation’ (HMOs) without a licence.
We know that licensing helps us tackle poor property conditions across the borough. That’s why we’re making sure landlords who privately rent to people living in shared housing have a licence. Shared houses are HMOs, and include house and flat shares, bedsits and some buildings converted into flats.
We are prosecuting landlords and agents who are operating HMOs without a licence. They also risk receiving an unlimited fine and paying a rent refund.
The team will be raising awareness of our licensing scheme to residents, so if you are not sure if your landlord has a licence or are concerned about a rented property nearby – why not come and visit us in key locations across Camden to find out more. Our officers will also be on hand to provide advice on common housing issues such as overcrowding, damp and mould and other issues.
And landlords will be able to get advice on improving their properties to meet the required standard and information on training and professional development.
Date: Wednesday 26 April
Venue and time: West Hampstead station, from 8am to 10.30am and at the 02 Centre, 255 Finchley Road, NW3 6LU, from 12noon to 2pm
