What is composting?

Composting is a natural way of recycling organic materials (fruit, vegetables and garden waste) into a nutrient rich soil that will help more plants, flowers and vegetables to grow.

Over 30 per cent of an average household bin can be composted at home and doing so could reduce the equivalent of 2 million tonnes of CO2 emissions every year.

What can I compost?

Most garden waste can be composted including grass cuttings, leaves, hedge trimmings and prunings.

You can also compost food scraps such as vegetable and fruit waste, coffee grounds, tea bags, stale bread and anything made out of flour.

Unfortunately meat, fish, and dairy products cannot be composted but can be recycled in our kitchen caddies.

If you don’t have space, time or just aren’t very green fingered you can still help to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill by recycling your kitchen waste using your kitchen caddy.
