First spade in the ground for the new Charlie Ratchford Centre

Camden councillors met colleagues from Camden Carers Service and construction company Galliford Try Partnerships last week, to mark the start of work on the new Charlie Ratchford Centre in Crogsland Road, Chalk Farm.

The centre will provide 38 new extra-care homes for people who need support to live independently, with a shared garden, ground-floor lounge and dining areas for residents. It will also provide a new base for Camden Carers Service.

The new centre is being paid for by our Community Investment Programme, our plan for building schools, homes and community spaces in Camden.

Councillor Pat Callaghan, Cabinet Member for Tackling Health Inequality and Promoting Independence, said: “Our vision for the future in Camden is that people live independently, with support, for as long as possible and take charge of their own wellbeing. The new centre supports that vision.”

Councillor Danny Beales, Cabinet Member for Investing in Communities said: “This is another great project from our Community investment Programme, which enables us to make best use of council resources to benefit our whole community.”
