Connecting Camden’s homeless people with local employers

Mayor of Camden Richard Cotton held an event to promote the jobs club run by his chosen charity C4WS at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel on Friday (10 November).

The event invited local employers including Camden Markets, Pret a Manger and KX Recruit to connect with the jobs club, which seeks to work with homeless people, to rebuild their lives and get them into work.

The event included keynote speeches from the Mayor, Councillor Nadia Shah and MP for Holborn and St Pancras Sir Keir Starmer, as well as a success story from a C4WS graduate whose life has been transformed by the charity’s employment support.

C4WS Homeless Project’s Jobs Club support people with experience of homelessness to become job-ready and secure work so that they can build a successful future. They work with motivated and hard-working individuals who undertake a training programme with C4WS and graduates of the training programme are supported through placements by mentors.

The Mayor said : ‘Local employers will discover that there is a great deal of talent hidden in doorways and C4WS helps to train, support and nurture that talent as part of rebuilding people’s lives.’

C4WS’s jobs clubs are essential in creating links between homeless communities and the world of work, building the bridges service users need to reintegrate with society.
