Can you spare a gift for someone in need this Christmas?

The Mayor of Camden, Councillor Richard Cotton, is calling on Camden residents and businesses to donate Christmas presents to disadvantaged people from across the borough.

Camden Council is working hard to tackle inequality and reduce child poverty. However, there are children and young people in Camden that will not receive a Christmas present this year without your help. That is why we run the Mayor’s appeal, collecting gifts and donations to make sure it is a Christmas to remember for our most vulnerable young people. The Mayor said:

“The Mayor’s annual appeal has started and I am really grateful to local organisations and schools who have already offered to run collections for my appeal in their workplaces.

“Every year Camden staff continue to support the Mayor’s appeal and this year I am collecting for families in need in our borough and also for teenagers leaving care.”

Any gifts of toys, toiletries, clothes or vouchers are greatly appreciated. Presents will need to be checked by trading standards before being delivered to local children through our family service and social work teams. We ask, therefore, that you do not wrap your donations.

As well as collecting gifts for young people, the Mayor is asking for donations for the homeless in line with his chosen charity for the year, C4WS. The Mayor said:

“In addition, I have included an appeal for the homeless for new socks or underwear which can be distributed to homeless shelters this Christmas. Christmas can be a stressful and difficult time of year for many people please consider adding an additional gift to your present list for the Mayor’s Annual Appeal.”

The Mayor’s appeal will be accepting donations until Wednesday 20 December. Please drop off your donations at one of the following locations:

Town Hall, Judd Street, WC1H 9JE

5 Pancras Square, N1C 4AG

Crowndale Centre, NW1 1BD
