Camden Lock Market fire: Camden Market open for business today

Camden Market is open for business today following last night’s fire.

Camden Council and its partners will work with businesses affected by the fire to get them back trading as soon as possible.

London Fire Brigade worked throughout the night to successfully put the fire out. There are no reports of anybody being hurt. No residential properties have been affected and all surrounding roads are now open.

Camden Council are supporting the London Fire Brigade, with a structural engineer from our Building Control team on site.

Councillor Georgia Gould, Leader of Camden Council, said: “Once again the emergency services have responded swiftly and with bravery to a major incident. I’d like to thank each and every one of the officers from the London Fire Brigade who got the fire at this iconic Camden location under control, ensured everyone was safe and limited its damage.

“The Council will work with our partners to ensure businesses can get back trading as soon as possible.

“However, I must stress that the majority of businesses in the area are open for business as usual – so if you’re in the area, please come out and support them this week.”

The London Fire Brigade are working to identify the cause of the fire.
