Cabinet revises proposed council tax increase

Camden Council’s Cabinet last night (Wednesday February 22) revised their proposed council tax increase, which Full Council will consider next week (February 27).

Cabinet agreed in December to propose a 3.99% increase (including a 2% precept for adult social care) to Full Council. But since then the government has allowed councils to increase this year’s social care precept from 2% to 3%.

In order to generate the maximum amount to fund adult social care services locally, Cabinet is now proposing that Full Council agree to use that extra percent and increase council tax by 4.99% (including a 3% precept for adult social care) from April (2017/18 financial year).
